Beautiful flower with good growth characteristics, named in honor of Steele Burden. Steele was a largely self-taught landscape architect, known for his work in Baton Rouge, City Park in New Orleans, and finally landscape architect for LSU from 1930 until his retirement. Steele's family were the owners of Windrush Plantation, a 600 acre farm near LSU, where Steele resided. Windrush was eventually donated to the University, and will be one of the tour gardens on the 2018 AIS/SLI tours. 'Steele Burden' seems to grow equally well in Central NY and LA.
